This year, Chattanooga Fashion Week took place in the Lindsay Street Hall, a beautiful building with over 100 years of history as a church that was renovated into a multipurpose venue.

The featured designs for Friday night’s event were:

XEN SWIM, SOUTHERN GRACE, MONARCH, BOB FRANKLIN APPAREL, BRANDON PIERRE, DESIRAE DANIELLE, SIENNA & BELLINI

Sienna & Bellini was actually a collection of pieces from Valentina Pou and Thali Gottesman, co-designers from Atlanta, that will be available in their new store in Hamilton Place Mall which is set to open in late October.

One of the lines (Brandon Pierre) was a fusion between West African and American culture. I went backstage to get a sneak peak at them and the pieces were very well made.

2.16.14// Simple Sundays

On Sunday mornings, I want nothing to do with nothing. Then again, that goes for any morning. I am not a morning person. Although, when I am well rested enough to be up early in the A.M., it feels great. Sometimes. My goals for the morning time are to be on time (if I have somewhere to be) and/or to not kill anyone for talking to me. Especially if I or they haven’t brushed their teeth yet.

Simple outfits can feel very rewarding to me. I look presentable, I don’t look dowdy or unkempt. If I throw on some lipstick, then it looks more planned than it actually is, haha.

I’m a vocalist, so you will rarely find me without a scarf in the cooler months. I use to have quite the collection of scarves, but with the help of a few good friends and The Mission Exchange Thrift + Vintage store, I’ve been able to pare down to the essentials: leopard print, grey, red, pink, zebra print, a few fun colorful ones, and mustard. I’m going to try and find a new leopard print scarf because the one I haggled for $5 in Chinatown is getting a bit grody.

I haven’t had a pair of pointed toe flats in a while. So I was excited about these because they had a little flair going on. I’m not typically this matchy-matchy, but sometimes it just works out for the best. And…I was on time.

Beauty & Personal Style Goals for 2014

Over the last few months, I’ve had a lot of things going on which made style the LAST thing I was thinking about. I don’t take pride in looking frumpy but sometimes you have to do the bare minimum to get by. At this point, I’m ready to jump back into the fun of wearing what I love and loving what I wear. I’ve made a few goals for myself in regards to my personal style.  After looking back on a bunch of pictures, I noticed that over the years, I don’t wear as much jewelry as I use to. For the most part, I don’t like wearing a ton of accessories at once, but seriously?! This is getting a bit ridiculous. I have enough accessories to open a small store.

In general, I think most women don’t want to waste a good outfit but I’ve decided I don’t want to live my personal style life by the number of outfits wasted. I’m deciding to wear what I want to wear because I want to wear it when I want to wear it why I want to wear it and how I want to wear it…whew.

So, these are my personal style and beauty goals….in no particular order:

– Wear more jewelry
– Wear heels more often
– Get rid of closet items that I don’t love
– Organize beauty products
– Get fitted for contacts
– Add more skirts to my wardrobe
– Get rid of products I’m not using or don’t love
– Acquire a few evening/cocktail dresses

What are your personal style and/or beauty goals for 2014?

Happy Blogiversary!

I can’t believe that it has been an entire year! This has been one of the most exciting journeys I’ve taken and this lovely road still continues. I’ve had the privilege of meeting (via world wide web) some very inspirational, beautiful, cheeky, tenacious folks. I have a lot of fun things in the works that I am super excited about and I hope that you will stay for the ride. Thank you all for your support, encouragement, kind words, internet hugs, and smiling emoticon faces.
