If you like music with heart and a message, check out Emeli Sandé. Emeli is a 23 year old singer/songwriter from rural northern Scotland. Stylistically, she sounds like the love child of soul, pop, with a dash of retro. Listening to her music, her passion and intentionality is very obvious. I have been waiting for the release of this documentary FOREVER!! This documentary is about the social issues of complexion, perception, history, and opportunity within the Black community. It is finally airing on June 23, 2013 at 10 p.m. on the OWN network. It will also be released on DVD on September 24, 2013. If you’d like more information, you can check them out here.
