This year, Chattanooga Fashion Week took place in the Lindsay Street Hall, a beautiful building with over 100 years of history as a church that was renovated into a multipurpose venue.

The featured designs for Friday night’s event were:

XEN SWIM, SOUTHERN GRACE, MONARCH, BOB FRANKLIN APPAREL, BRANDON PIERRE, DESIRAE DANIELLE, SIENNA & BELLINI

Sienna & Bellini was actually a collection of pieces from Valentina Pou and Thali Gottesman, co-designers from Atlanta, that will be available in their new store in Hamilton Place Mall which is set to open in late October.

One of the lines (Brandon Pierre) was a fusion between West African and American culture. I went backstage to get a sneak peak at them and the pieces were very well made.

I can’t believe that it has been an entire year! This has been one of the most exciting journeys I’ve taken and this lovely road still continues. I’ve had the privilege of meeting (via world wide web) some very inspirational, beautiful, cheeky, tenacious folks. I have a lot of fun things in the works that I am super excited about and I hope that you will stay for the ride. Thank you all for your support, encouragement, kind words, internet hugs, and smiling emoticon faces.

What to Wear: When Traveling from Cold to Hot

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I recently busted out of this increasingly cold climate to go back to Jamaica for a week. Not long enough. Anyway, I thought it might be helpful for some of you, to chit chat about what to wear when you’re having to travel from a cold climate to a warm one. Things get hot or cold very quickly and one of the worst situations to be in is on a plane freezing or burn your buns off.

Travelling Clothes

Instead of wearing a cardigan, I opted for a denim button down because I knew I’d get more use out of it. Another great thing about wearing a button down or a cardigan as a jacket is that you don’t have to take it off when going through security. Pow.

If you’re traveling from hot to cold, just do everything in reverse. You may want to leave a jacket in the car (if you parked at the airport) or in the vehicle of your drop off/pick up person.

Travelling Side by Side
My fleece lined leggings were completely unnoticeable. 😉

Are you going on vacation during the autumn/winter season?

I absolutely love going to TJ Maxx. I always find a variety of styles that I can mix and match to suite my taste. Here are a few things I’ve picked up on a recent shopping trip.

I haven’t worn skirts often because I’ve had a lot of trouble with fit. But this trip, I had quite a bit of skirt success. I tried on another adorable skirt besides the one I purchased. I left it because it was a little too big (insert a triumphant “woooooooo”).

I loved the mustard skirt but it was a little too big. I didn’t purchase the striped skirt because I only liked it, I didn’t love it. The same thing went for the white peplum top (which I’m regretting now). The blue lace dress was a little too much for me. I’m no prude, but I’m not a freakum dress kinda gal.

Here’s a little lookey loo at everything I picked up individually.
