Product Review: Curl Junkie

Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banana Deep Fix

Temperance (my hair) has been going through a dry season over the last few months so I tried this deep conditioner by Curl Junkie. It’s a pretty popular conditioner that’s gotten some rave reviews so I decided to try it out for myself.

Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banana Deep Fix Texture Shot

I used it on clean wet hair and I went through less than 1/4th of the product. It smoothed on pretty well. My hair softened almost instantaneously. However, this product didn’t give me a ton of slip to detangle with. If you like a ton of slip while detangling, you may need a rinse out conditioner. I forewent the rinse out and went straight to my leave-in with not much of a problem. If you don’t mix your own deep conditioners, this product could work for you as well.

Let me cut to the chase. Here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
-Very moisturizing
-You don’t have to use a rinse out.
-For my Non-mixtress Naturals:All the deep conditioning you need is in the one container
-If you like Tropical Banana scents, this would be a pro for you

Cons:
-I don’t like Tropical Banana scents so I pretty much hate the way it smells
-A little pricey at 8oz. for $20 plus shipping if your total order is under $100

If you don’t mind paying 20 bucks for 8oz of product and if you love the smell of floral-ish bananas, this may be for you. I, however, will not be ordering this product again. Love the moisture, but REALLY hate the smell.

We’ve all been here at some point. And if you have been ‘here’ yet, at some moment in your life, you will be. Sometimes I don’t have the time or the energy to put on a satin bonnet, much less to re-twist my hair. What do you do when you wake up in the morning like this…

Waking Up

Here is my go to, 3 minutes or less, do it in the car if I have to, ain’t nobody got time for re-twisting, I knew better, don’t judge me, you’ve done it too…hairstyle.

B.A.S.K. Cacao Bark Deep Conditioning Hair Treat

B.A.S.K. Cacao Bark Deep Conditioning Hair Treat

Temperance (my hair) has been EXTRA super duper dry since taking my braids out, so I’ve been on a rampage trying to infuse all types of moisture back into her. I’ve heard really great things about the B.A.S.K. deep treatments so I ordered both this one and the Yam Nectar  treatment. Unfortunately, they were out of the Yam Nectar so this had to suffice. And Boy. Did. It. Suffice. I didn’t use any heating mechanisms other than the heat from my scalp and that was good enough. My hair was very moisturized and my curls were VERY happy after this treatment.

If you don’t love products with strong scents or if you don’t like chocolate, this is not for you. It smells like hot cocoa goodness and it’s very creamy. I will say that you may want to smooth it out very well in your hands before distributing it through your hair some of it will slide out of your hands and on to the floor. If you’re like me, it won’t matter much where that bad boy lands because it will get scooped up just that fast.

This product retails for $20.00 w/ flat rate shipping (I made my purchase during Black Friday- Cyber Monday for added savings). I used approximately 1/8th of the product to condition my hair. Keep in mind that if you have lower or higher density hair than I do, you may need to use less or more than I did. Also, if you deep condition your hair while it’s dry, you’ll end up using more product. This means I’ll get about 7 more conditioning sessions out of this container. This equates to $2.50 per deep treatment session total.
